About this place
Set among the office buildings of Marunouchi in Chiyoda Ward, izakaya Rakuraku (楽々) is an unpretentious spot well stocked with straightforward drinking fare and drinks. Stepping through the noren at dusk, an evening can easily begin with a medium bottle of beer while browsing the simple, comforting small plates.
Catching the eye on the menu are tavern staples like two crisp, fragrant fried horse mackerel (aji fry) and simmered beef and tofu (nikudofu) meant to be savored slowly. Juicy chicken karaage and salt-grilled mackerel join raw selections like house-cured shimesaba and tuna sashimi, letting diners tailor their spread to the mood of the evening. Simple side dishes round things out nicely, including potato salad, macaroni salad, and "maka-pote" salad, which combines both on a single plate.
The beverage lineup ranges widely, from refreshing Setouchi lemon sours and Otoko Ume plum sours to Hoppy sets, dry Gokai sake, and an array of honkaku shochu. With table-side ordering and an easygoing rhythm, it functions effortlessly whether you drop in for a quick drink after work or settle in for a second venue later in the evening.
